Get the GEMS for your research

In order to use the GEMS, you will need to request a version of it. Here’s how to do this:

  2. Fill in all the details below, then submit.
  3. We’ll get back to you when we’ve processed your request!

Conditions of use

Once permission is granted, researchers using the GEMS provided by the Personality, Emotion and Music Laboratory (free of charge) agree to the following conditions of use:

  • The GEMS is used for research purposes only. Any commercial use of the GEMS, either
    by direct application or through incorporation in any automated process, is excluded.
  • No copies of the GEMS scale or its contents will be made or distributed.
  • In cases where reproduction of the scale is unavoidable, such as for data collection purposes, it is mandatory that the Copyright Notice, printed at the bottom of the GEMS rating form, be reproduced in clear and legible print, regardless of whether the administration occurs online or offline.
  • If the project involves a translation of the scale, the project description must state into which language it is being translated and a special permission for the translation obtained. Further, the translation will be made available to the Personality, Emotion and Music Laboratory upon completion of the study.
  • Any of the GEMS scales must be cited in the following way in any publication using the
    collected data:

Failure to comply with any of the above terms will result in revocation of permission to use the GEMS.
